Two baseball players, Dennis Ryan (Frank Sinatra) and Eddie O'Brien (Gene Kelly) try to balance baseball with a career in show-business and a love life. When a new manager inherits the team, Eddie and Dennis are not happy, until Eddie meets her. As the team strives to win the pennant, Eddie must decide what he wants as a fan of the team falls in love with Dennis and tries to win his affections. I really enjoyed this movie. I wasn't too fond of Gene Kelly's character in this movie, but his performance was good and the character was tolerable. I loved Frank Sinatra's character in the movie. I liked Sinatra's character was kind of the underdog and that both Ryan and O'Brien got a happy ending. I loved Esther Williams' character. Especially how she wasn't afraid to show the guys how it's done and that made sure they knew she was in charge. I also liked her humor. The song and dance numbers were great as usual in a Donen film. I also thought it was cool that the final song of the movie was Sinatra and Kelly singing about their characters, as well as singing as their characters. It was interesting that the movie was set in 1908 rather than in the 40's. I enjoyed seeing the costumes and I loved the dresses the actresses wore. I loved the movie and would definitely watch it again. I would also recommend it.

AuthorHello fellow film lovers! Just a little bit about me: I love movies from the Old Hollywood era, especially musicals. In general, my movie taste is a bit all over the place. I don't really stick to one genre, as I just watch whatever looks interesting! I look forward to broadening my horizons in terms of film and reviewing them to the best of my ability in an honest way. Reading another passion of mine, and I'm frequently told I have an old soul, so expect to see a lot of older films being reviewed. I hope you can find what you need here! Archives
